Flavours of Jersey

Islanders love their food whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner or anytime in between.

Join a Jersey Uncovered ‘Flavours of Jersey Tour and find out about Jersey’s local produce and the diverse tastes that islanders enjoy. Whether it’s a fresh oyster from Jersey’s clean waters, a tasty selection of artisan cheeses, a delicious cupcake made with local products from an independent bakery, or a traditional Jersey Wonder ... all will be revealed on the tour.

The tour begins in Liberation Square, St Helier, where you guide will meet you by the imposing statue celebrating the Liberation of the island on 9th May 1945.

With your guide, you will stroll through the lanes, streets and squares of St Helier and gain an insight into what makes Jersey unique. On this walk you will hear about the man who gave this town its name, and about its rich and varied history.

In our grand Victorian Central Market, a feast for the eyes in both colour and flavours, you can admire our gorgeous floral and fruit and vegetable stalls, and you will be introduced to a selection of the best “flavours of Jersey”.

Along with an overview of the market’s history, you will learn about Jersey produce, agriculture, and experience what locals love to eat. Your tasty treats will include Jersey wonders, fruits, cheeses and artisan breads, along with tasty locally made chocolates, and wonderful cookies.

In our Victorian Fish Market you will hear a little about the history of our fishing industry, meet our stallholders, and admire a wide range of fish and shellfish. Get to meet a live Lobster up close, and perhaps taste an oyster or two – if you dare.

This is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to get to know Jersey through food, in some of St Helier’s most historic and iconic buildings.
