A guided walk from Village to Castle and Back again
What to expect:
A circular guided walking tour of Gorey
Set off on a time-travelling adventure through Jersey’s history on this circular guided walk from Longbeach car park, Grouville (or the nearby bus stop). Enjoy spectacular views across the coast, especially on a clear day, as you step back through centuries of stories and secrets.
Wander through the medieval village of Gorey, then climb to the headland of Mont St Nicholas to uncover a hidden 6,000-year-old megalithic tomb and a striking 19th-century defensive tower.
Descend to Mont Orgueil Castle, once the headquarters of an 18th-century spymaster and prince, then explore the bustling harbour to hear tales of island life, past and present. Finish your stroll along the old tracks of the Jersey Eastern Railway, connecting history with the beautiful coastal scenery.
Mostly a gentle ramble, the walk does include a flight of steep steps, but these can easily be bypassed if needed, making it accessible for most walkers.
Toilet facilities and refreshments available at the beginning and end of route.
